New Board Members Elected
Elected to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Northern Indiana Historical Society (NIHS) at their 111th Annual Meeting are: Theodore Foti, Sr., Anne Hillman, Sara Miller and Lou Pierce. Re-elected to the board are: David Frye, Nancy Khan, Mark D. Noeldner, Ann Sullivan, Jerry Thacker, Ed.D., Milana Tomec, and Jane Warner. The NIHS owns and operates the Northern Indiana Center for History. The event took place on June 21 at the Center for History. Newly-elected officers include Linda Doshi, president; James G. Hart, vice president; Jane Warner, secretary; and Chuck Viater, treasurer.
The newly-established Robert O. Kuehl Excellence in Service Award was presented to Brian Harding, who in June 2007 completed an unprecedented five years as president of the NIHS.
The second oldest historical society in Indiana, the NIHS was organized in 1867 as a private, non-profit institution. Its mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, exhibit and teach the heritage of the St. Joseph River Valley Region to enrich present and future generations. The NIHS owns and operates the Center for History, which comprises Copshaholm; the Worker’s Home; Voyages Gallery of Local History; the Ernestine M. Raclin Gallery of Notre Dame History; and Kidsfirst Children’s Museum. The museum is the national repository for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
